Cat Stevens: On the Road to Find Out

After recovery from TB, Cat Stevens started looking for answers to the questions that were haunting him. He began reading and studying many different spiritual teachings such as Eastern Mysticism, meditation, numerology, tarot cards and astrology.

He started reflecting his thoughts in his music.

One of his songs which express his quest for the truth at the time is

“On the Road to Find Out”:

Well i left my happy home to see what i could find out

I left my folk and friends with the aim to clear my mind out

Many stories told me of the way to get there

He was honored in the white house five times and received ‘National Hero Award’ from the Senate of Puerto Rico for his efforts to rescue the people trapped in the building.

After the end of The Beatles era, Cat Stevens rose to become an idolized pop sensation in the UK. He has sold over 60 million albums around the world since 1966 to 1978, before he left the industry.

After a year of financial success and ‘high’ living, he became very ill, contracted TB and had to be hospitalized. It was then that he started to think,

“What was to happen to me?”

“Was I just a body, and my goal in life was merely to satisfy this body?”
